You have no choice, cheerleaders for war

November 14, 2006

So now Blair is in favour of a wider Middle East policy of engagement with Iran and Syria. This is the first sign of one of the coalition of the willing admitting that the war in Iraq has been lost. The C.O.W now have no choice but to engage with Iran and Syria. Everything else has failed, not that they had a plan to begin with. Of course, it was always going to be a hopeless cause and as Michael Gawenda pointed out in the Herald yesterday, no matter which way you look at it now, the tragic reality is that the Iraqi people are going to bear every cost of this war that was imposed on them.

I wonder what HoWARd and Bush will talk about in relation to Iraq this week in Vietnam. My guess is they probably don’t even know yet. Oh, the irony of meeting in Vietnam to discuss Iraq. I really thought the mission was accomplished back in May 2003 George and John… What’s happened? Oh yeah, what those of us who opposed the war said would happen… Why do I keep crapping on about the fact that our leaders illegally went to war when the majority of us opposed it? Because we must not forget, and in a democracy we have the power to remind our politicians as well. I’m not going to pretend that I know the way foward for Iraq – but I do know how we’ve got to this point, and the shambles my friends has been directly caused by Bush and his cronies, Blair and his arrogance and Howard and his lap dog obedience and blind subservience.

Saturn’s southern rage

November 11, 2006

NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has photographed a massive storm at Saturn’s south pole. The storm is said to be 8,047 kilometres wide – which would cover about two thirds of the surface of Earth. There is some cool footage and a bit more explanation here. This Cassini mission has been amazing – the info just keeps coming.

Eee aww, eee aww!

Remember this?

mission-accomplished.jpg

Make way for the donkey in both houses! Reports are filtering in claiming that the Dems have won the Virginia Senate seat and thus have control of both chambers.

What a difference 2 years makes. Of course myself and countless others around the whole world said 4 years ago that what is happening now in Iraq would happen. I guess it’s better late than never that the fuckwits who lied (Rummy: “We know they have weapons of mass destruction”) and ran this whole war without a coherant plan or strategy get some form of retribution from the American people for what they have done over the last 6 years.

Now the Dems aren’t some benevolent innocent bunch of do-gooders either. However, many of them are talking as if they really do want to use this mandate for a significant new Iraq policy direction as well as some new initiatives on the domestic front in relation to medical benefits and the minimum wage. The deceit and blatent disregard for liberty that the Bush administration has shown towards the world as well as to American citizens has come back to bite it square in the arse. Seems the American people have said what a majority of the world has been saying since early 2003 – Bush et al, go fuck yourselves! And to all those conservative supporters out there in Australia and America who gloated at us in 2004 – well, smell the air now you bastards!

Melbourne Crap

November 6, 2006

Oh joy, another Melbourne Cup! Two of my pet hates – cruelty to animals and gambling – come together in the ring of stupidity at Flemington and spill out all across the nation to chumps in every dingy, smoke infested gambling hole who seem all too willing to part with their money. In a month from now you’ll hear the same people complaining about not having enough money to spend on Christmas. Yawn. Fast foward to Wednesday… now!
